The ADT UTG4-BK7 is a PCIe 3.0 x16 to USB4 or Thunderbolt adapter to connect, for example, a high-speed external graphics card to a PC with a USB4 or Thunderbolt connector or another PCIe card to a mac or PC with a USB4 or Thunderbolt connector.
With this UTG4-BK7 adapter, you will connect a Windows PC with USB 4 or Thunderbolt ports:
- a high-speed external graphics card, and
- to macOS and Windows PCs:
- high-speed external network card - e.g. 2x 10GbE, 2x 25GbE, 2x 40GbE
- SAS, SATA or NVMe controller
- RAID controller
- video capture or editing card
- audio capture or editing card
- and other PCIe cards
The data transfer rate between the PCIe connector and USB 4 | Thunderbolt is max. 40 Gbps
For correct operation of the adapter, an external ATX power supply with a wattage compatible or higher with the PCIe card to be installed is required - the power supply is not included.
Questions and answers
Q1: There are three switches on the UTG4-BK8 adapter. What are they used for?
SW1: forced start switch for the graphics card. Position 1 for automatic start, position 2 forced start. By default, the switch is set in position 1 to automatically start the graphics card
SW2: Forced shutdown switch for the USB5V power supply. Position 1 for automatic start-up, position 2 for forced start-up. By default the switch is set to position 1 for automatic start-up
J3: ASM2464PD circuit power switch. ON position for automatic start-up, OFF position for power off. By default, the switch is set to ON position for automatic start-up of the circuit.
